Over the last 20+ years, several efforts to build a new aquatic facility in Jefferson County to replace the Mountain View Pool in Port Townsend have ended unsuccessfully. In 2022, a renewed effort began, with a focus on community partnerships and stakeholder engagement. This initiative, called Healthier Together, has consisted of multiphase planning process involving Jefferson County, Jefferson Healthcare, Port Townsend School District, Port of Port Townsend, YMCA, JeffCo Aquatics Coalition, and City of Port Townsend. Most recently, a citizen volunteer Task Force was formed to explore alternative construction methods and identify feasible sites for a new aquatic and recreation facility in Jefferson County. Work is currently underway to form a Public Facilities District (PFD) to lead the way towards construction of a new facility. Learn more about the past and current efforts below.
